TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bandung Basarnas Office stated that 11 MTs Harapan Baru students died as a result of drowning during the Cileueur River crossing, Cijeungjing District, Ciamis Regency, West Java, on Friday night.
Head of the Bandung Basarnas Office, Deden Ridwansah, confirmed that his party had evacuated the survivors and those who died in the incident.
"Students at MTs Harapan Baru Ciamis were doing a river crossing to clean the river, suddenly several students drowned," he said, quoted from Antara, October 15, 2021.

Joint officers are still at the scene to be on standby to conduct a search, equipped with equipment for river rescue.
"Currently the team is still at the scene to anticipate reports and developments from the committee and the victim's family," said Deden Ridwansah.
According to the latest report, the number of victims who were successfully evacuated was 21, consisting of 10 survivors and 11 people dying from drowning.
