Honda Ready to Mass Production ASIMO Robot

 ASIMO Robot, FOTO / IST

TOKYO - In 2000, Honda started an ambitious project to develop a humanoid robot designed to aid in everyday human activities. Now, the robot named ASIMO is turning 20 years old and contributing to the various advanced technologies that have been applied to Honda's mass products.

As the Humanoid robot focuses its development on how to walk on two legs (bi-pedal), recognition of the environment and interaction with its environment, the technology developed for ASIMO (short for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) also contributes to various intelligent technologies such as the car control system Vehicle Stability Assist, a balance system on motorbikes, to sensors for autonomous vehicles.

ASIMO was born in 2000, but the ASIMO design process has taken a long time since 1986. At that time, Honda designed a human foot-like structure for its first robot, named E0, and succeeded in creating balanced and regular footsteps. However, at that time it took 5 seconds to alternately step from one leg to the other, and the E0 robot could only walk straight ahead.

Until 1993, Honda continued to make improvements to the leg structure in the next several generations of robots, ranging from types E1 to E6. As a result, the robot's footsteps become faster and its movements look more natural like humans. Entering 1994, Honda began designing a complete robot from feet to hands and head, which were named P1 to P3.

This 14-year journey brought the birth of ASIMO for the first time to the world in 2000. With a height of 120 cm and a width of 45 cm, this tiny robot can now step in various directions with the help of a separate controller. Exactly a year later, the ASIMO robot was designed to be more sophisticated. ASIMO has been able to climb and descend stairs.

Indonesia Begins to Look for Aliens and Habitable Places Apart from Earth

Exoplanet illustration. Photo: via Brainberries

Are there aliens and life outside Planet Earth? The National Institute of Space and Aviation (LAPAN) will start researching planets outside the solar system, or exoplanets, in 2021.

This was said by Researcher of LAPAN, Rhorom Priyatikno. According to him, research to detect exoplanets will be carried out in 2021. This has been included in LAPAN's strategic research plan to find other life or aliens and habitable places besides Earth.

"The first step in the search for other life outside Earth is to find planets with conditions that are considered habitable," Rhorom said as quoted by CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (26/10/2020).

LAPAN said it would start studying transient phenomena. According to Rhorom, exoplanet is a form of transient phenomenon.

"In our strategic research plan, next year LAPAN will begin a study of transient phenomena, namely phenomena that occur incidentally. One of the objectives is detection and characterization of exoplanets," he said.

Transient celestial bodies have no fixed light. They include novas, supernovae, gamma ray bursts and flares from galactic cores. Even so with exoplanets because they can only be detected when they are passing through their parent star

LAPAN is optimistic that it can conduct this research from the Timau National Observatory in East Nusa Tenggara. The dark conditions of the night sky there are ideal for space monitoring.

"Currently, LAPAN does not have an exoplanet research program. However, with the operation of the Timau National Observatory in NTT, we hope to be able to detect and characterize exoplanets," said Rhorom.

Researchers from various countries have indeed been doing exoplanet hunting, but Indonesia has not started this hunt even though it already has the LAPAN space agency.

If LAPAN is researching exoplanets, then they will align themselves with other world space research institutes. Exoplanet research has been widely carried out in other countries.

This Motorcycle Can Transport Cargo Like a Tronton Truck

Aksi motor perkasa. (Facebook/Werdi Agung Suwargono)

A motorbike that carries such a large amount of cargo is the talk of netizens. Looking at the goods being transported, it doesn't seem like the capacity of the motorbike. But a tronton truck.

The video was uploaded by a Facebook user named Werdi Agung Suwargono on Saturday (29/8/2020).

"Mbah .... what brand of motorbike Mbah? Cheap logistics solutions are plentiful, ”he wrote to a group called“ BEKAKAS ”.

In the video, an old sports motorbike is seen being driven by a man. However, what is interesting is that there is a tail truck attached to the back of the motorbike.

Not empty, the tail of this truck is in fact fully loaded. Even so, he was still able to drive casually on the road.

Unfortunately, it is not clear when and where this video was taken.

In addition, this type of motorbike also invites a lot of question marks. Not surprisingly, with the large amount of content that made the focus wrong, this video also invited various responses from netizens.

(Semarangpos.com/Imam Yuda S.)

A unique story comes from a man in Demak Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia, who bought a motorcycle with one gallon or a gallon of coins.

The man named Fajar Satria Nugroho was willing to collect coins in one gallon to buy a motorbike for his beloved wife.

Fajar brought a gallon of coins when he came to the Cendana Harum motorcycle dealer in Demak, Monday (31/8/2020). The coins, which amount to Rp.14,250,000 or around $ 965.66, are then used to buy a Honda Scoopy motorbike in cash.

Fajar admitted that he collected coins in the gallon for four years. The money is a savings that is collected with his wife to buy a motorbike. All the money stored in the gallon was in the Rp1,000 denomination coins.

“We deliberately collected these coins to buy a new motorbike. So I have a grocery store at home, so if there is a new thousand coins, it will be put in a gallon, "Fajar told Semarangpos.com, Monday.

Gaharu, the Most Expensive Divine Wood in the World, $100 thousand

For thousands of years, agarwood, also known as agarwood, was known as the wood of the gods. iStockphoto / RahulDsilva)

For thousands of years, agarwood or what is known as agarwood has been known as the wood of the gods.

Gaharu is described as a scented product of wealth and luxury in one of the oldest written texts in the world, the Sanskrit Veda, which dates back to 1,400 BC. The aroma produced from agarwood has been highly valued by many cultures and religions throughout history.

In the Nirvana Sutra, agarwood is referred to as the "heavenly wood" used for the cremation of the Buddha. In the New Testament, Jesus' body was anointed with a mixture of myrrh and aloes after his crucifixion. And in the Hadith Sahih Bukhari, descriptions of heaven by Allah's messengers include the burning of aloes as incense.

The price of one kilogram of gaharu can reach US $ 100 thousand. This price even makes it one of the most expensive raw materials in the world. However, to produce good agarwood, this tree must be infected with a fungus.

And what makes it so valuable?

The agarwood tree (Aquilaria malaccensis) is a tree native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia. Prior to infection, the healthy cores within the Aquilaria tree were pale white, odorless, and worthless. However, in the wild, damage to trees by outside forces, such as grazing animals, sporadically results in the development of a certain type of fungal infection in the tree called Phialophora parasitica.

Ants make holes into tree trunks, causing wounds and bringing microorganisms, bacteria, and fungal spores into the tree trunk. The ants secrete a liquid that destroys the tree, then the tree uses its own sap to cover the wound, which over time turns into aloes.

Aquilaria's defense against this attack is to produce aromatic, stress-induced resins called aloes, which are dark and moist in color. Over the years, agarwood has been slowly embedded in the wood core to make agarwood.

Quoting Business Insider, After gaharu is harvested, it needs to be separated from the healthy Aquilaria wood around it. In a process that often takes hours, the resin impregnated chip, also known as oud, is hand carved. Oud chips are commonly used as incense, especially in the Middle East, where they are burned as a sign of hospitality and put into clothes and clothing as perfume.

When it burns, smoke will appear first, then the smell will start to come out. The distinctive aroma of agarwood, no other aroma compares to it. Then slowly it started to smell nice. In a closed room it can last up to three to five hours.

Oud is also refined into essential oils. And in its purest form, aged oud oil can cost as much as $ 80,000 per liter, earning a nickname among "liquid gold" traders. As its growing popularity in the West, oud has become a common ingredient in several high-value fragrances, adding a warm musky scent.

Expert Manages to Capture the Most Detailed Form of the Sun, This Is Its Form

Surface appearance of the sun. Sunspots are observed in high resolution by the GREGOR telescope with a                  wavelength   of 430 nanometers. (University of Freiburg, Leibniz Institute of Solar Physics (KIS) / IFL Science.)

The year 2020 may leave bad memories along with the Covid-19 pandemic. But on the other hand, the researchers' last nine months offer extraordinary observations of the sun, earth and outer space.

Most recently, the recently updated GREGOR telescope is contributing to a snapshot of the sun's surface. GREGOR, Europe's largest solar telescope, manages to capture detail up to 50 kilometers on the sun's surface.

Given the immense size of the sun and its considerable distance from the earth, capturing this detailed image is like looking for a needle in straw.

This very detailed report on solar images is published in the September 1, 2020 issue of the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics. "This is a very interesting project, but also very challenging.

In just one year, we redesigned the optics, mechanics and electronics (GREGOR telescope) to achieve the best image quality, "said lead author Dr Lucia Kleint, who leads the German solar telescope project in Tenerife, as reported by IFL Science, Wednesday (2/9) / 2020).

Telescopes are very complex instruments. Upgrading its capabilities will take a long time, both to get the best option and also to build the right solution for optical limitations.

The visible cell structure on the surface of the Sun is as big as Texas. (University of Freiburg, Leibniz Institute of Solar Physics (KIS) / IFL Science.)

Kleint's team made a technical breakthrough during the lockdown earlier this year when they isolated themselves at the observatory.

That extra time allowed researchers to upgrade the GREGOR telescope by replacing two optical elements that had been designed to a precision of 6 nanometers, roughly 1 / 10,000 the width of a human hair.

"The project is a bit risky because upgrading such a telescope usually takes years, but great teamwork and careful planning have resulted in this success," said co-author Dr Svetlana Berdyugina, professor at Albert-Ludwig University of Freiburg and Director of the Institute. Leibniz Solar Physics (KIS).

"Now we have a powerful instrument for solving puzzles about the sun," he added.

The upgraded instrument performed a scan in July. At that time, researchers took the highest-resolution images ever taken by European telescopes of the Sun, revealing spectacular details of the evolution of sunspots and structures in the sun's plasma.

This allows solar scientists to study magnetic fields, convection, turbulence, solar eruptions, and sunspots in incredible detail.

GREGOR, along with the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, the Hi-C rocket mission, and space missions such as the Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter, are opening up extraordinary new chapters in our study of the Sun.

50 Years Missing, Papuan Singing dog has been found

Papu Singing Dog Photo: New Guinea Highland Wild Dog

The New Guinea Singing Dog, also known as the singing dog, is a species of dog originating from Papua. As the name implies, a singing dog does not make a barking sound like other dogs, but rather sings or howls rather.

Singing dogs have rarely been seen since the 1970s. They estimate that only about 200 or 300 of the singing dogs were protected.

However, recent studies suggest that these wild dogs are still found and breed in the interior of Papua. The researchers found the genetic singing of dogs near the Papuan gold mine.

"Locals call them upland feral dogs," said James McIntyre, president of the Papua New Guinea Highlands Wild Dog Foundation. “New Guinea's Singing Dog is a name given by foreigners. Since I don't know what they are, I just call them upland wild dogs.

\
Papu Singing Dog Photo: New Guinea Highland Wild Dog

To find out what the upland wild dog is, McIntyre conducted an expedition in the highlands of Papua in 2016. At that time, they managed to find a population of ancestral dogs that were still roaming the Indonesian province.

From the study, the researchers also managed to collect 149 photos of singing dogs, 15 photos of dogs that looked like singing dogs that were thought to be extinct and fecal samples similar to those of an extinct singing dog breed that had lost their genetic diversity.

In 2018, researchers returned to Papua to collect three blood samples from 15 highland wild dogs found there. They will compare DNA from caught singing dogs with highland wild dogs.

Based on the results of these comparisons, the researchers said that the animals that live in the highlands have a genetic profile that is almost identical to the Papuan singer dog. In conclusion, the two dogs belonged to the same species.

Papuan Singing Dog Photo: New Guinea Highland Wild Dog

The findings from the study, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, will also make singing dogs a spectacular population for biological conservation.

"The New Guinea Singing Dog, really does provide us with fantastic opportunities for conservation biology," said Elaine Ostrander, a geneticist at the National Institute for Human Genome Research. "This will give us the opportunity to reintroduce the original genetics of these dogs into the conservation population."

Both the wild dog and the captive singing dog are close relatives of the Australian dingo, and distant relatives of the domestic dog. The closest relatives of the New Guinea singer dog are East Asian breeds including the chow chow, Akita and shiba inu.

This relationship suggests that the singing dog may have split from this ancestor of this Asian breed some 3,500 years ago, when humans and some of their domesticated dogs migrated to Oceania.

Seeing Sangkanjaya Village, a Village Without Four-Wheeled Vehicle Access

                                          Sangkanjaya Village (photo: panturapost.com)

VILLAGE with a beautiful view and has road access for cars is customary. But what if the village doesn't have road access for four wheels? Not making it up, this village can be found in Balapulang District.

Namely Sangkanjaya Village, which is located beside the Gung river, has only one access road in and out of the village and can only be passed by two-wheeled vehicles or motorbikes.

To be able to go to Sangkanjaya Village, Balapulang District, Tegal Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. have to cross a 150 meter long plank suspension bridge that spans the river Gung. The bridge is the only way to Sangkanjaya Village.

Arriving at Sangkanjaya Village, you can see many nice lined houses, but none of them has a car garage. What you can see is a motorcycle storage area. The access road to the paved village is slightly up.

"Sangkanjaya Village only has approximately 300 houses and 325 families and only 1 RW and 3 RT. The majority of residents here migrate and farm. The houses here do not have a place or car garage space. In other villages, many of the houses have car garages, ”said Secretary of Sangkanjaya Village Abdul Mubarok at the panturapost, Wednesday (19/8/2020).

Sangkanjaya Village (photo: panturapost.com)

According to him, in Sangkanjaya Village there is only one access route in and out of the village, namely the route via a suspension bridge between the connections of Danawarih and Sangkanjaya Villages. The suspension bridge access can only be accessed by two-wheeled vehicles or motorbikes.

So, whatever the activities of the residents of Sangkanjaya Village, if you want to go out, you have to ride a motorbike. However, that does not mean that none of the villagers have four-wheeled vehicles or cars. Some have a car, but the car cannot be parked in front of the house but in a neighboring village.

“The residents who own the car park them at the houses of the Danawarih villagers. Because the road or road access to Sangkanjaya Village cannot be passed by car. The parking fee in one month is Rp. 500 thousand, "he said.

“Most of those who have four-wheeled vehicles or cars have migrated outside the region. When returning to the village, the car is parked at the residents' houses or neighboring villages and on to Sangkanjaya village by motorcycle, ”he added.

Mubarok said that the car that had entered Sangkanjaya Village only once. At that time there was a TMMD construction from Danareja Village towards Sangkajaya Village. However, the road is now completely impassable by vehicles. And until now there have been no more cars entering the village.

The absence of road access for four-wheeled vehicles makes it difficult for residents to build houses. The equipment and raw materials can only reach the suspension bridge. And from the suspension bridge to the village it is transported by motorbike.

Meanwhile, H. Abulrohim (56), a native of Sangkanjaya Village, said that long ago, when he was about to go to elementary school in Danawarih Village, he covered the river with bamboo. But after there was a suspension bridge in the 1990s, residents could use two-wheeled activities.

"So if you see there are motorbikes on the suspension bridge that have been modified, such as carrying lots of rice, cabinets, cement or other things, it is not strange anymore. Because, whatever items people buy, they must be carried by motorbikes. Not by car, "he said. (*)

Viral videos for bikes that are faster without pedaling, this explains the physicist

Screenshot of cyclists without pedaling (Twitter Screenshot) Souce: kompas.com

A video showing a group of people cycling on the road circulated on social media Twitter. Something different, in the video uploaded to the @semestasains account on Saturday (8/22/2020), one of the cyclists suddenly changed his bicycle style.

The cyclist is no longer pedaling his bicycle, but instead slumps over on the saddle of the bicycle, much like the superhero character Superman is flying. Although not pedaled, the bicycle he was riding on actually went faster and overtook the other cyclists. The video has been liked by more than 5,100 Twitter users and commented on by 1,500 netizens.

Some netizens who commented said that this phenomenon could occur because the cyclist was crossing the downhill road, so that it could go faster. Account

@semestasains said that this happened because the Superman-style cyclist went faster because he understood the basic laws of aerodynamics. However, is that true?

Explanation of Physicist Professor of Theoretical Physics of FMIPA-IPB, Husin Alatas, said that the Superman-style cyclist can be faster because the air pressure between the front and rear of the bicycle becomes smaller. Cyclists who position themselves horizontally, he said, reduce air drag.

Husin said this was possible because the airflow around the bicycle and the cyclist's body was relatively not much difference between the front of the bike and the back. "Based on the observed phenomenon, it appears that a large reduction in air drag significantly changes the momentum of the bicycle," said Husin when contacted by Kompas.com.

"Even though the bicycle is no longer pedaled and the torque forces that contribute to wheel rotation only come from the gravitational force due to the slope of the road," he added.

In physics, the quantity of motion is determined by a quantity called momentum, which depends on the mass of the bicycle plus the cyclist, as well as the speed.

Husin explained that the momentum of the bicycle is influenced by the forces acting on it.

There are several forces that work, including the gravitational force due to the downhill road, the thrust from the cyclist, the air drag which is influenced by the bicycle structure and the body position of the cyclist, and the friction between the bicycle and the road.

"Particularly with air drag, it appears because of the difference in air pressure at the front which is bigger than the rear of the bicycle due to the difference in air density between the two parts," said Husin.

Butterflies and flies are insects that look for food in different places. Butterflies love to suck the essence of flowers and fruit.
While the flies look for food in dirty places, such as trash, food scraps and others.

Uniquely, residents of Kampung Pondok Gajah, Bandar District, Bener Meriah Regency, Indonesia, found butterfly-patterned butterflies stuck to their wings.
The butterfly, measuring 4.5 centimeters wide and 2 centimeters long, with transparent white color was found on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at around 1

On the wings of the butterfly it is clearly seen as attached to 3 flies and only two are clearly visible.
"We first saw the butterfly perch on the table in its stall," Tarmizi said.

Tarmizi said, we only realized the fly's motif on the butterfly's wings after a buyer who came to the warung said there was something odd about his wings.

"We also feel there is something strange, then capture the butterfly using a smartphone," said Tarmizi.

Tarmizi continued, the motif on the butterfly's wings looked like a picture of a fly resting on the butterfly's wings.
According to Tarmizi, the butterfly is likened to a beauty or is believed to be attending special guests.

While identical flies with dirty. For this reason, flies are interpreted as slanders.

"We hope that the fly with the pattern of the fly is not a bad sign, merely for the purpose of the Almighty," he pleaded. (*)

Like the action of the citizens of this one eccentric. With their blankets and pillows, these young men sleep instead in unusual places. Curious as to what the absurd action?

 1. See here, the eccentric behavior of the citizens, based on thin mattresses and blankets alone is very good.

2. Do you sleep in the garden like this, do you not automatically bite the mosquitoes?

3. What are you going to sleep in the middle of a rice field like that?

4. Relaxing style when lying in front of the TV while enjoying the breeze from the banana tree.

5. The most extreme sleep is sleeping in the middle like this. When I wake up, it's not in its original place, because I am swept away by the water.

Concerned with the Installation of Extra-high-voltage air ducts, the 8-year-old boy hangs as high as 15 meters

Nadin is hanging on a 15-meter-high Extra-high-voltage air ducts cable. (Pramita / Liputan6.com)

Residents in Kadu Village, Curug Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, Indonesia, were horrified by Nadin, an 8-year-old boy who was hanging on a 15-meter high (15-meter) Extra High Voltage Air Line.
The incident occurred on Thursday (4/16/2020) afternoon. From a distance, Nadin was heard screaming for help to get down.

"Please, I don't have a strong grip. I want to go down," shouted Nadin, who was still hanging as hard as she could with both hands.

Meanwhile, State Electricity Company officers from a distance, allegedly continued to pull the sutet cable to a height of about 15 meters. Seen in an amateur video recorded by residents, Nadin's body is still hanging and accidentally pulled along or dragged to the height of the sutet cable to the maximum.

"Don't jump! Don't let go! Come on, where is the mattress, stuck?" Shouted some residents who continued to follow where Nadin was hanging.

The Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Tangerang Regency, Indonesia Disaster Management Agency, Kosrudin confirmed the incident. He said, Nadin was initially playing in the area of the Sutet cable installation project not far from his house.

"He did not know if the cable was going to be pulled, his son was hanging when the cable was still low, but over time the pull up to high, he did not dare to loose," said Kosrudin, Friday (4/17/2020).

Freefall

After a few minutes, residents who were on standby below complete with a mattress, told Nadin to release his grasp. Luckily one of the coffee sellers, managed to catch it.
"Freefall, captured by residents. But his son is still conscious, there may be minor injuries. So immediately taken to the nearest hospital to check everything," said Kosrudin.

In addition to the fact that there were mistakes in parents who did not supervise their children, Kosrudin also admitted that he was disappointed with the State Electricity Company officers who did not place personnel every few meters to oversee the work on the cable installation.

"The officer who pulled it was from a distance, a few kilometers from the starting point. He thought only gardens or vacant land, which turned out to have residents' homes, should be monitored every few meters so that no residents approached," he said.

If you see the back of the gallon used, you will see the words "TOGETHER AGAINST CORONA". This article was intentionally made by Ali to remind Corona of the dangers and the importance of being together to fight Corona.
For Ali, using used gallons of water instead of masks is not without reason. In addition to medical masks difficult to find, Ali is also unsuitable for using masks made of cloth that must be washed after use.
"This reduces (the use of) masks. So it does not get anything. If you use disposable cloth then wash it. If you don't use gallons, you can wipe it off, spray it. This is routinely washed," Ali said.
The man from East Java who currently lives in the Gondolayu area, Jetis, Yogyakarta City, admitted that he has been using water gallons for the past two days to replace masks.
Ali explained that he was inspired by the medical staff who used PPE helmets, goggles and masks at the same time. From the appearance of these medical officers, Ali also made his own PPE by utilizing used gallons of water.

"If people use protective equipment, PPE. Now I better use this practical, rather than gallons of unemployment," said Ali.
Ali said that every day he earned a fortune on Jalan Tamansiswa from the time the schoolchildren left until 18.00. Before the Corona pandemic, Ali said he could bring home Rp.30,000 each time he served on the road.
"If before Corona existed, one day they could collect up to Rp30,000 or around US $ 2. If it is not up to now," Ali explained.
But when the Corona virus pandemic, which caused many residents of Yogyakarta to choose to stay at home, Ali claimed his income was much decreased. To get Rp. 30 thousand or about 2 US dollars, has not been easy since the past month.
