Crowded broadcasts that call 'char ants' and attach scary photos after being hit by the bite. In the chain message it was mentioned that we should avoid interactions that directly touch the skin with the insect.

But, what is Charlie Ant? Actually a few years ago this insect attack had occurred in Surabaya. This insect is better known as tomcat, also called the rove beetle or rove beetle, and has other calls such as the ant ants or the ant charlie.

Dr. Tri Yunis Miko, W, MSc, lecturer in epidemiology at the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (FKM UI) once said that every insect does have a role in transmitting diseases including tomcat. These insects have poisons that can cause a reaction on the skin.

"Insects found in gardens or rice fields usually only cause reactions to the skin. Unlike other insects such as centipedes, the poison can poison the nerves and cause paralysis," said Dr. Tri.

When someone is exposed to poison from Charlie's ant or tomcat, it is immediately cleaned up and then given an anti-allergic drug such as hydrocortisone or betametasone ointment so that the reaction that appears is not excessive.

"The reaction caused in the body is different for each person, for those who are not allergic it might only cause a little red. But if the person has an excessive allergic reaction or is highly sensitive to allergens, then it should be handled as soon as possible," he explained.

Tomcat which has the Latin name Paederus riparius lives in a humid area and generally will follow the light from the lamp. These insects usually function to expel and eat the types of ticks and animal bugs of rice pests. Tomcat often appears on the eve of the evening.
